We are growing with an awesome Cafegymatorium!
To be completed the summer of 2018
Working collaboratively with Cuningham Group Architecture, the Aspen Ridge Preparatory School leadership is excited to present the design of the new multi-purpose addition. It represents the missing piece for this thriving learning community, literally filling the gap between the two school buildings and adding dedicated athletic and performance functions to the school.
The 11,000-square-foot addition also creates a new, unified main entry point and an open commons space for lunch overflow and small gatherings. The existing playground will move to the East near the turf field which will be expanded into a larger, more usable sports surface.
Inside, the CHSAA-sized gymnasium will host a full-size basketball and volleyball court, pullout bleachers to seat 300, and plenty of floor space for spectators viewing the adjacent stage. The playfully designed windows are fun and joyful, while large translucent panels and tubular skylights fill the space with natural daylight. The gym entrance provides plenty of glass to connect the space with the commons and the exterior beyond. The commons feature built-in bench seating with views into the gym, a new trophy case and display, and a centerpiece wall showcasing the school and community.
Last but not least, is the performing arts room and stage. This space works double duty, providing a student music room and performance stage, the latter of which will be available for use to the larger Erie community.
A movable partition can close the music room off or open it into the gym as a stage. The room is outfitted for future performance features, from full theater curtains and stage
lighting, to projectors and sound systems. We’re proud and excited about the design and can’t wait for the project to take off. Get ready for our ground breaking at the beginning of 2018!
