History of ARPS
In 2008, the Aspen Ridge founding committee was formed. The committee consisted of 30 parents, educators and community members. Their effort led to the writing of a charter application that was submitted to the St. Vrain Valley School District in August 2009. The St. Vrain Valley School District Board of Education unanimously approved the Aspen Ridge charter in November 2009.
2010-2011 was a planning year for Aspen Ridge. The school contracted for the construction of a new building, hired staff, purchased equipment and curriculum, and held public information meetings. The school moved into its new building on July 1, 2011.
Aspen Ridge Preparatory School opened its doors to 175 students in grades K-5 for the 2011-2012 school year. At the end of its first year, the school was awarded Accreditation with Distinction for its outstanding academic performance.
During 2013-2014, student enrollment increased to 203 and Aspen Ridge was honored to be awarded Accreditation with Distinction for a second year in a row. Aspen Ridge continues as a top performing school within the St. Vrain Valley School District and the state of Colorado.
Aspen Ridge was unanimously granted a 10 year charter renewal by the St. Vrain Valley School District in January 2014 and continues to provide a quality education choice to families, staying true to its mission, vision, and small class sizes the Founders envisioned.
